MESSING

from the Church Tower. Our house, Keepers Cottage, is where the road has turned right. It is showing further up the road from the tree on the left hand side of the road. It has red bricks at the bottom and yellow paint at the top.It has 3 dorma windows in the roof of which you can see 2 in this pic. The field behind it belongs to our neighbour and has the fence which I take pictures of going up the right hand side. The next field up is a field of wheat which is not even knee high at the end of May. The trees behind are my woods. Pods Wood. Actually the first part of Pods Wood is called Coney Field Wood but it is all part of the bigger Pods Wood. The houses in the foreground are the new houses which were built on the new village green. I have a friend who lives in that really big one with the two chimneys. She lives with two men. Her husband and another man. They all seem to get on well and she has two men to do jobs around the house. Val, perhaps you would like to borrow one if you have any jobs need doing. Though I am sure you have learnt to be expert at doing jobs yourself. Just like my daughter Charlotte. I guess the disadvantage is that she has two men to cook for. The houses opposite us are sem-detached and are council houses although some have now been sold and people are extending them. The big house with the red roof at the very top of the road is the Red House. They have large grounds and keep animals and grow plants there. Adults with learning disabilities come there every week day to work. They are quite fun and they often have events on there where the whole village and other surrounding villages come. Our grandchildren love it there and it is just up the road.
So this is better than a Google Earth picture although you can't see our garden.

Geoff said I should describe our house as being the one in the gap in the middle of the picture.

OK, I found it with the help of Geoff's comment! Easier in the big one. It's very cool, what a wonderful village! M

OH, and it's a really nice picture, too! Mary :-)

Mine is not as pretty either. Keiths is nicer than mine but not nearly as nice as yours! LOL! What a sweet-looking village!

It is called Keepers Cottage as the Gamekeeper of the country estate up the road used to live here but his cottage actually was knocked down and ours was built on the plot. We only saw the house as Layla who was living with us at the time used to work as a waitress in the village restaurant and we drove past and saw it was for sale.

Oh yes I do!! I constantly thank god that I am lucky enough to live here. But maybe I don't love it enough in that I don't keep it clean enough!!!
