Signs of Spring Outtake: Rib cage

When the snow melts in the spring, the winter-killed and hunter-killed deer appear. Posted by Picasa

A good documentation of this occurrence. Well it is a sign of spring and I am glad you have pointed it out as it is not something I would normally give a thought to. If they were hunter killed then why would the hunters not take them home? Do they kill them and then can't find them? Surely not?
Not the most pleasing picture though I am sure you have made the best of it. But with these seasonal ones it is good to have things of interest instead of just good viewing!!!

Well, I knew it wasn't entirely pleasant, which is why I didn't submit it as an intake! LOL--the hunters do not always find the deer the shoot--some are wounded and run off hurt only to die in the woods. OR, the hundters take what they want and leave the rest or dump it back in the woos and I think that's what happened here. There is one in this same place every year, so I think someone shoots them, takes them home and butcher's them, and brings bak he remnants for the repdators to have their share.

Well I suppose that is very caring of them to them of the other predators. Better for sure than dumping it in the garbage!

LOL! Just part of nature. It does give you a sort of start when you see this.

I walk here frequently. This is at Three Rivers Game Mangement Area, which is a huge plot of wild land about a five minute drive from my house, and it is managed for hunting.
