River Snow Trees (Not Sping variation #2)

River Snow Trees (Not Spring variation #2), by Mary Stebbins. I fiddled with this slightly in PS7 (since my PSCS is on the blink). It was a raw image ut I had to save it as a jpeg to open it in PS7, so I lost quality there. If I get things straightened out, I may post one more variation of this. Click on the image to see larger (as always). Posted by Picasa

It's great to see it even bigger here than on BP. I absolutely cannot think of anything you can do to improve this so I will be interested to see what else you do to it.
I always hate to say things like WINNER as I never like to put the kaibosh on it. But there, I've said it now.

Oh so this is not the one on BP. I think I prefer it. I like the extra contrast to the one that you prefer.

This IS the one I prefer, I think! And it IS the SAME one on BP. DId I say something wrong? The first one I posted which is probably the SECOND one on the site, since everything posts in REVERSE chronological order unless you change the date or time is as it come out of the camera. I adjused the levels and removed a bench and some of the sticks--I missed some int he lower right though which I wish I'd gotten out because that part of the picture was covered in PS by the layers palette. (Grrrrr!) I want to get a really HUGE monitor! OR--you can get two monitors and put all the palettes and tools on one and have the other free for just the image. Wouldn't THAT be the cats meow!

I may not change it any more. The thing that upset me was that this was a raw image and I didn't get to do the raw processing which might have made it better--who knows. I was thinking I'd try the raw processing on Toby, my tiny computer, then switch it to Blue, my big computer, BUT now I have the poetry deadline sot worry about so I probably won't have time.

THANKS for liking it! YAY! (I like it too!) Someone said it was great in B&W but it is actually a COLOR image.

Geoff has had two monitors for the last couple of years. But when he is video editing he truly needs it. I hate all the stuff getting in the way in PS. I am constantly shifting it around.
Probably it was me who understood it wrong!

I've got an extra monitor and I read soemwhere about getting a divider. I'm
not sure how you do that. But I had two computers for a while, one in NY
and one in Detroit and now the NY one is just sitting around in Detroit
cause I haev to move out of there. So if I could make it work, that would be TOO COOL!

I am sure the original photo was very nice. The problem is, you've "fiddled" with this so much, it doesn't look real. It looks as if something you created by computer. That's a shame. That's not what photography is supposed to be.

The original photo as taken from the camera is right below this. I'm sorry if yoiu don't like what I did.

It's not that I don't like it. I apologize for sounding as critical as I did. I'm very passionate about photography and feel that people often stir away from what a photograph is... Which is the world the way you see it. I do think it's a very nice picture. I don't see another photo on this page btw. Only the one that has been edited. Again, I apologize for sounding so critical.

I carefully included the original so you could see what I'd done to it. The original is exactly as it came from the camera. However, it is not on THIS page.

If you are interested, click on "home" and then scroll down til you find this picture again--the original is right below it.

I didn't want to clutter the page. I actually did very little to this picture. It was a snowy day and the trees were covered with snow.

I appreciate your looking and commenting.

You have some beautiful photos on your site! I hadn't looked until now. I will say that I like the unedited photo better of this better. (Just sharing my opinion again... You're probably sick of me by now.) Some of your photos are truly wonderful though. I felt emotions, which is how I judge a great photo. Very nice shots.

Thank you, Crystal.

Please also visit my site at http://imagik.blogspot.com

I have straight photos and also some manipulated photos.

In this case, I think the one that was darkened slightly looks more like the original scene--but that's just my opinion--you're entitled to yours.

One thing about digital cameras is that they do not capture a scene in the same manner that a film camera would, and neither "see" the way eyes do.

I do not mind blurring the line between art and photography. I like to produce soemthing beautiful. SInce beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I can only do my best tro make soemthing beautiful as I perceive it.

Thank you for your attentive dialogue. Mary
