SEASONAL Outtake

This is a wee baby swallow who fell out of his nest and I found him outside our porch. The nest is inside the porch. The parents were sweeping around sounding very cross with me while I took the picture. I don't know what happened to him, whether he managed to fly and get back in with his siblings or not.

I think he died he did not look happy. But there are at least 3-4 babies who have survived and are flying around everywhere now. Hopefully I will only have to wash down the porch once more and they won't mess it up again.

Well I guess that is nature. But the swallows are very prolific this year. They have had two broods already and we are busy cleaning the step. But I feel privileged to share my porch with such well travelled birds. They are very welcome to stay until they go off to South Africa in the winter.
Hey you're back?
