Outtake

A barrel of fun: Trees as compositional elements. I took this in Hamilton, Ontario Canda today (6-22) on my way back to NY. Click image to view larger. I had some "better ones" but left them in MI. Posted by Picasa

MACRO DOF - Poppy Outtake

Something to brighten the day or night

MACRO DOF - White Campion Outtake

There were many of these in the woods about a month ago although not so many as the year before. Last year there were more different colours and shades of pink and white.

MACRO DOF - Hogweed Outtake

We do also have Giant Hogweed here which can grow up to 16foot high.

MACRO DOF - Hogweed

I hope you like this as it is my favourite in this series.

BUGS - Caterpillar

Just hanging out!!

Bugs - Dragonfly

I love the light through his transparent wings. I used Filter, Brush Strokes, Accented Edges on this as it was really only focused on the tip of the branch. Then I cloned in a bit of missing wing. His top left wing.

More Bugs at Last

I made a big effort on Saturday while sitting around the almost empty pond to try and capture some gorgeous big blue dragonflies. There are tons of them this year. But they do not land on anything. They hover for a bit but not long enough to focus. But this obliging little fella landed on a leaf. Taken with full zoom on 300mm. I am wondering if this is the same as Keith's dragonfly.

GRASSES - Intake

Cropped extensively and poster edge added and faded

GRASSES - Intake

More barley taken early morning while walking my temporary dog. He has actually stopped me from taking many pictures as if I stay a while trying to get shots he runs off and gets lost so most of the time I havn't even taken my camera with me.

Grasses - Outtake

A local footpath in the opposite direction to the one I take when I go to the woods. This reminds me of country footpaths when I was in my teens when the farmers didn't use so much weedkiller around the edges of the fields. I love all the lush growth even though it means you get grass seed stuck in your socks and shoes and nettle stings on your bare legs.

Grass Outtake: horsetails and grasses

horsetails and grasses, for grass theme, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. This looks like the same picture I submitted for trees, but it is not. It was, however, taken at the same place. I like it anyway. :-D Posted by Picasa

I am posting this under season as these are very abundant right now. But I could also have posted it, LOL, under orange or under high key. I had fun with this. :-D Posted by Picasa

SEASONAL Intake

The foxglove provides an inviting tunnel for the wee bee!

SEASONAL Intake

The foxgloves always seem to have a good show in a different spot of the woods each year. I have never seen them in this particular spot before. I think they come up where the ground has recently been cleared. For instance when they have chopped down some trees or thinned them out. The woods are managed by the Forestry Commission and they do seem to take good care and try to encourage wildlife.

One of the ponds in Pods Wood. This is not the pond where the duck family live. This is the prettiest pond whatever time of year.

SEASONAL Outtake

Honeysuckle given the buzz treatment and cropped

SEASONAL Outtake

This is a wee baby swallow who fell out of his nest and I found him outside our porch. The nest is inside the porch. The parents were sweeping around sounding very cross with me while I took the picture. I don't know what happened to him, whether he managed to fly and get back in with his siblings or not.

SEASONAL Outtake

This is a wee baby coot. He looks very worried. His mummy and daddy are close by though.
