You can just about see here the 5 ducks that are left out of 11 ducklings. The adults left about 2 weeks ago and 3 days earlier I had seen 10 ducklings. I am hoping that Mary's theory that the fox could be taking them because there is not enough water is wrong. I havn't seen any footprints or signs of struggle in the mud. I am hoping they have gone off to a better location with water.

I hope it is wrong too. In my case, we did find evidence, so hopefully your babies are OK.
Nice picture. Very lavishly fecund-looking. Rich.
I went today with Mia. There were 6 ducks today - so one reappeared. They all looked fine. Much shyer than their parents though for coming to the wholemeal bread we were throwing them.
shyness may be a good thing for safety. Glad one reappeared, if one is safe,t he others may also be.
safe is GOOD! :-D
Then again - think of the baby foxes!
Nature is cruel sometimes
